The Bayelsa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The decision, announced in a communiqué following the APC 12th Expanded Stakeholders Meeting in Yenagoa on Tuesday.

Stakeholders reiterated Tinubu’s developmental interventions across sectors and the strategic appointment of Bayelsa indigenes to key federal positions.
The communiqué specifically referenced the administration’s support for a South-South Senate president and the enactment of the South-South Development Commission Act as milestones reinforcing the president’s commitment to the region.
Large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, were also cited as instrumental in unlocking Bayelsa’s economic potential and boosting connectivity within the South-South region.
Party leaders at the meeting emphasised that continuity of Tinubu’s leadership beyond 2027 is essential to sustain these initiatives and accelerate ongoing development programmes.
Dennis Otiotio, Bayelsa APC chairman, noted that the meeting was convened to evaluate the president’s performance and determine whether he merited the party’s exclusive support for the next election cycle.
Former Governor Timipre Sylva praised the national leadership’s presence in Bayelsa.

Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Managing Director Samuel Ogbuku commended the APC’s resilience amidst challenges, highlighting cohesion maintained under the National Working Committee.
APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Deputy National Chairman South, Emma Eneukwu, projected that more governors would join the party to boost support for Tinubu in the coming elections.
