Bayelsa's Douye Nomayo Emerges Best Graduating Medical Student in UK Varsity | Daily Report Nigeria

Douye Nomayo, a Nigerian medical doctor, has emerged as the overall best-graduating student in the School of Health & Psychological Sciences at the City University of London, United Kingdom.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Nomayo, who hails from Bayelsa State, graduated with distinction and earned a master’s degree in Health Policy.

She also received the prize for the overall best performance in the school.

Explaining her reason for pursuing a second degree in Health Policy, Nopayo said;

“During my time spent working in the hospital, I saw the suffering people went through to access healthcare, due to high cost or unavailability.

“I realized that healthcare practitioners must get more involved in politics to get problems in the health sector on the political agenda quickly. I set out to understand the financial and political aspects of policy-making in healthcare and learned how to formulate, evaluate, and improve on existing policies.

“Several countries have gone through health system reforms and their experiences can be leveraged upon to produce changes that will be financially feasible and acceptable to both healthcare providers and the Nigerian population.”

Kingsley Magbei Emerges NDU’s Best Graduating Medical Student

Kingsley Magbei from Delta State has emerged as the best graduating medical student of the Niger Delta University, Amassoma.

Magbei was inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) alongside 60 other graduating students of the university.

Aside from emerging as the Best Graduating Student, Magbei also won the accolade of the Best Graduating Doctor of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. He was also conferred with the Best Graduating Doctor, Faculty of Basic Clinic Sciences.
