Five members of the Benue State House of Assembly narrowly escaped an attack by suspected armed herders on Thursday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 10 pm at Tyomu in Gwer Local Government Area, where the gunmen had set up an ambush on the Gboko/Makurdi highway.
The Assembly Members, who were returning from an oversight function in Katsina-Ala LGA, were shot at indiscriminately.

Those affected included Majority Leader Saater Tiseer, Chief Whip Ipusu Bemdoo, and three other members.

Reports added that the Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Orientation, Elias Audu confirmed the incident on Friday.
Audu lamented over the constant attacks on innocent people in the state.
It was further revealed that the House has called on security agents to apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.
