Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that striker Karim Benzema has suffered an ankle injury ahead of his side’s UEFA champions League second-leg encounter with Liverpool next Wednesday.

Ancelotti also provided the latest update on Ferland Mendy ahead of the Liverpool clash.

Recall that Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield in February.

Speaking to the press ahead of Real Madrid’s La Liga tie with Espanyol on Saturday, the Real Madrid boss said Benzema would miss the league game because of an ankle injury.

“Benzema has a blow to the ankle, he has not been able to join the group,” Ancelotti said. “He [Benzema] will be available on Wednesday.”
