In a surprising turn of events related to the investigation of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified widespread misinformation.
Edu’a clarification comes after reports linked her to the alleged misappropriation of N30 billion in public funds.
A document titled “EFCC Alert,” circulated to media organizations on Monday, April 8, 2024, had indicated the substantial recovery of funds during Edu’s tenure.
However, Edu’s office promptly responded, refuting the claims and highlighting the EFCC’s efforts to set the record straight.

According to Rasheed Olarenwaju, Special Adviser on Media to Edu, the EFCC clarified that Edu is not under investigation for the misappropriation of N30 billion.
Olarenwaju explained that the focus of the inquiry centers around a lower amount of N587 million.
