Bilateral Relations: China Visits Nigeria with 3 Warships | Daily Report Nigeria

The Chinese Navy’s 162nd Escort Task Force, comprising destroyer MSL Nanning, frigate MSL Sanya and supply ship Weishanhu has arrived in Nigeria.

Their mission was to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, reports held.

The Chinese envoy arrived in Lagos on Sunday, July 2, and was received by the Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Joseph Akpan.

China’s ambassador to Nigeria,
Chi Jian Chun explained that the planned visit of China’s special envoy to Nigeria from July 2 to 6 will also strengthen maritime security in West Africa.

Reports stated that MSL destroyer NANNING was anchored at Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Berth twenty-one while two other vessels remained at anchor.

Chun added that the Chinese delegation to Nepal this time was huge, with more than seven hundred people and three ships.

He said:

The visit is to further deepen the relationship the two countries have with one another and also seek to strengthen and improve our relationship and cooperation with each other.

“This visit demonstrates the harmony and symphony between Nigeria and China. I believe that this visit will deepen the cooperation between both countries military sector so that we can work together to overcome obstacles.

“We will continue to do more things to facilitate and promote the relationship between the two countries.”
