The Federal High Court in Lagos has handed down a six-month prison sentence to the controversial cross-dresser and social media personality, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro delivered the verdict, ruling that Bobrisky would serve the full six-month term without the possibility of paying a fine.

Bob has been in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since his arrest last week for alleged abuse of the local currency.

Facing a four-count charge of Naira abuse brought against him by the anti-graft agency, Bobrisky pleaded guilty on April 5.

In her judgment delivered on Friday, Justice Awogboro emphasized the seriousness of mutilating Naira notes, stating that such acts tarnish the country’s image. She emphasized the need to put an end to such practices.

The judge concluded by sentencing Bobrisky to six months imprisonment, starting from the date of his remand, with no option of a fine.
