The Baylesa State Police command has begun investigation into the dead body of a young girl found in one of the guest houses in Brass local government of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, Butswat Asinim, who confirmed the development to BBC, said they have deposited the dead body at the Brass General Hospital Mortuary where an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause of her death.
It was gathered that the cleaner was working on the room when she discovered the body of 16-year-old Nengi Enenimiete who had earlier lodged with a guest on Monday 21 November 2022.
The deceased and another guest was said to have checked in the guest house on Saturday 19th November and the guest checked out alone on 20 November 2022.
Nengi was discovered inside the wardrobe after her body began to smell badly.
The dead body, however, had no signs of physical injuries, mutilation and strangulation, according to the police.
An indigene of the town said,
”when the manager went to check the room, he saw that it was badly messed up so, he asked the cleaner to clean the room for another guest.
“The cleaner was working when he noticed water dripping on the tiles from another part of the room.
“When they check, they began to perceive bad smell which led to a search only to discover the lifeless body of the girl inside the wardrobe.”
Butswat noted that the manager of the guest house is working with the police to identify the person who had lodged with the dead girl before her dead body was discovered.
