Boko Haram Abduct 22 Girls For Marriage In Niger

A group of bandits suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect invaded Kurebe community in Niger state and abducted 22 girls for marriage.

It was gathered that the gunmen had earlier informed the villagers that they were going to marry the girls, who were between the ages 15 and 17 years old.

According to a, leader in the community leader who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, they were told to withdraw the girls from school because they will be coming to marry them.

He further stated that it came as a surprise to them yesterday (Thursday) November 18, when the terrorists came to pick up the girls without any form of security check.

He added that the group leader, who was identified as Malam Sadiku led several operations in the area, preaching weird Islamic ideology without any hinderance for several months.

He said.

“They operate freely but when they identify a stranger in the community, they usually feel threatened; they either plan for the abduction of the stranger or chase the person away; we reported several times to the authorities,”

Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, the Niger State Governor, On several occasions has raised the alarm that an Islamic group had hoisted their flag in Kaure, a village close to Kurebe.

Suleiman Dauda Chukuba, the Chairman of Shiroro Local Government Area, also raised the alarm over the activities of the group, calling for an urgent action.
