Shehu Dikko leads the delegation, joined by Bukola Olopade.

The Nigerian Olympic Committee also confirmed the country met the March 28, 2025 deadline for an expression of interest.

The bid mixes symbolism with concrete gains.

Hosting would highlight infrastructure improvements since the 2003 African Games, boost tourism, create jobs and spur private investment in sports facilities.

Nigeria lost the 2014 bid to Glasgow, but Victoria’s withdrawal over rising costs reopened the field, and Bola Tinubu’s public backing gives the Abuja bid new momentum.

The group needs to demonstrate its ability to control expenses, find venues, and create a lasting impression.

Approval would elevate Africa’s sporting standing internationally by making Nigeria the first African host.
