Boniface returned to Leverkusen after two days of medical checks in Milan failed to win AC Milan’s approval, transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano said.

The 24-year-old flew back to Germany on Sunday while both clubs wait on a final call.
Milan ran scans at local clinics over the weekend but did not issue a clear green light.
Consequently, the club asked for extra tests, and that request has left Boniface in limbo for now.
Milan’s prudence makes sense. Boniface tore his cruciate ligaments twice at Bodø/Glimt and has battled recurring muscle problems since.
So doctors want stronger assurance about knee stability and overall fitness before they sign off on a costly deal.
The clubs had agreed roughly a €5m loan fee with a €24m buy option, but those terms depend entirely on a passed medical.
If Milan pulls out, Leverkusen will rethink the striker’s plans and other clubs will likely take notice.
For now, Boniface stays under contract and trains with Leverkusen as medical talks continue.
With Boniface back in Leverkusen, both teams need to weigh their immediate sports requirements against the potential of long-term injury.
The medical conclusion will determine what happens next.
