Borno Governor, Zulum Blasts Nigerian Army Over Convoy Attack

Following the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, in Baga, by suspected Boko-Haram terrorists, the furious governor has blasted the Nigerian Army for its incompetency.

The governor’s convoy had been attacked by suspected Boko-Haram terrorists while on his way to see some internally displaced persons camps in the Northern part of Borno.

The convoy was attacked along the route of Baga, a town under Kukuwa Local Government Area of Borno state, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020.

The attack was however repelled by the governor’s convoy security entourage, though casualties were recorded.

Confronting the Commanding Officer in mile 4, Borno, the governor without mincing words expressed his utmost disappointment at the incompetency of the military to rid Baga, and other areas of insurgency.

“You have been here for over one year now, there are 1,181 soldiers here; if you cannot take over Baga which is less than 5 km from your base, then we should forget about Baga. I will inform the Chief of Army Staff to redeploy the men to other places that they can be useful.

“You people said there’ s no Boko Haram here, then who attacked us?,” the governor said.
