Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has announced an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and the border community of Banki.
The directive, which follows consultations with security agencies, aims to disrupt supplies to Boko Haram militants operating in the region.
In a statement released on Saturday in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Malam Dauda Iliya, conveyed the announcement, stating, “I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki, and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect.”

The governor emphasized that the ban would be strictly enforced, warning against any attempts to flout the order.

“Let me make it clear, there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban. Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” Governor Zulum declared.
