A gruesome case of child abuse has reached the Kaduna State government, following the torture and inhumane treatment of a minor.

The minor was said to have been tied up, beaten and assaulted over alleged theft.

These punishment led to the 7-year-old boy losing both legs to amputation.
A couple have been arrested and set to be charged to court, following a series of capital punishment levied in a minor.
Daily Report Nigeria gathers that a 7-year-old boy, identified as Abubakar Sani was accused of theft, and was subsequently punished by his father, Sani Tanimi Maishago, and his stepmother.

Preliminary investigations revealed the boy was accused of stealing biscuits, and in the process of discipline, he was locked up for 20 days, starved, beaten and hot water was poured on his legs.
This happened in Lere Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident in a statement released on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Rabi Salisu said these assaults led to the boy’s legs being amputated, as it was the only way to save his life.
“The report on the boy came to the ministry about nine days ago, and by then, his legs had already rotted and had maggots coming out, so the advice from the doctors was amputation to save his life,” she said.
Speaking of the state government’s zero tolerance of child assault, she siad
“We will make sure that justice is served to serve as a deterrent to others.”
She added that the government would continue to work towards ensuring that justice was served and that children were protected from abuse and exploitation in the state.
