On Monday, June 28, 2021, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced it has resumed the nationwide voter registration exercise.

The Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) process was paused months before the 2019 general elections and will be carried out for more than a year, until September 2022.

Who is eligible to register?

Nigerians over the age of 18 are eligible to register to vote.

The registration process is divided into stages.

On June 28, only online registration will be available with registrants encouraged to begin the process at https://cvr.inec.gov.ng or https://cvr.inecnigeria.org (the websites will go live on Monday).

Registrants will be required to fill out forms and upload photos and other documents on the website.

They will then schedule a visit to an INEC State or Local Government Area office to complete the registration process in person.

Physical registration for online registrants will begin on July 19.

Online registration is free and can be completed using an internet-enabled mobile phone on INEC web page?

What if you are unable to register online?

Those who are unable to register online for whatever reason can register in person beginning on July 19 at any INEC State or LGA centre.
