The organized labour has suspended its planned nationwide strike.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Monday, jointly suspended the indefinite strike earlier billed for Tuesday October 3, 2023.
The decision to suspend the industrial action was reached at the end of an emergency meeting between labour unions and the federal government.
Recall that the NLC had directed its affiliate member Unions across the country to mobilise and shut down the country following the refusal of government to adhere to the seven points demand made by the NLC and the TUC to ameliorate the suffering of the teeming Nigerian Workers and the impoverished masses of the country.

The suspension of the strike is to give the government ample time to implement the demands by labour unions.
Consequently, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NLC directed all its affiliate members to further direct members to return to work tomorrow, October 3, 2023 as the planned indefinite strike has been suspended.
Also, members of the Maritime sector were directed to resume work on Tuesday as instructed by the NLC.
