BREAKING: 34 Die as Illegal Fuel Depot Explodes in Benin | Daily Report Nigeria

A minimum of 34 people have died following an explosion caused by contraband fuel in southern Benin.

According to an official, the incident occured near the border with Nigeria on Saturday.

Victims include two babies in an incident occasioned by smuggled fuel.

“A serious fire occurred in the town of Seme Podji,” Interior Minister Alassane Seidou told reporters.

“Unfortunately we have 34 deaths including two babies. Their bodies are charred because the cause of the fire is smuggled fuel.”
