Senator Abdullahi Adamu has reportedly resigned his position as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Credible sources told Politics Today that Adamu tendered his resignation letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu and received by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila and submitted at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s return from the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya.

The source said; “He has resigned. The resignation letter signed by him has been sent to the villa. The letter was addressed to President Tinubu. But since the president is away in Kenya for the AU meeting, the letter was sent to his chief of staff.”
Confirming Adamu’s resignation, a source close to the former lawmaker said;
“The national chairman resigned following a gang up by people around the president to embarrass him during the meetings of the party slated for tomorrow and Wednesday.”

Adamu’s resignation has been attributed to a purported plan to impeach the APC National Chairman.
Another source denied claims that Adamu resigned on President Tinubu’s order ahead of the APC’s National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings scheduled for 18th and 19th of July.
Yet another source, who is an APC bigwig, revealed that Adamu resigned when he got wind that two influential personalities around the president had mobilised against him ahead of the meetings.
The unnamed APC chieftain noted:
“He resigned because they have started to collate signatures to impeach him during the forthcoming meetings. He resigned to save himself from humiliation.”
