The governor of Abia state, Okezie Ikpeazu has tested positive to the dreaded novel coronavirus, Daily Reportcan confirm.
The governor’s status was made public by the state’s Commissioner for Information, John Okiyi Kalu, on Monday through a statement.
According to Kalu, governor Ikpeazu had been on self isolation before his result returned positive.

The governor has thus directed his deputy, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, to act in his role until he is cleared fit to resume duty.
The Commissioner assured Abians that the state has intensified it’s fight against the lethal virus, stating that it has the resources to fight the pandemic.
While stressing that coronavirus is real, Kalu maintained that the virus is not a death sentence.
