ASUU has appointed a new leader, following a new election at the 23rd National Delegates Congress in Benin on Sunday, May 11.
Following the election, the new elected president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU is Prof. Chris Piwuna.

This comes after there was rising concerns and arguments over industrial actions to be taken in the union, as well as the rising case of brain drain in the country.
The elected president, Prof. Piwuna is a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital,
Prof. Piwuna is also the Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos, succeeds Victor Osodeke, a Professor of Soil Science at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
