Banks, government offices and the power sector have all be shutdown as the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) begins its nationwide strike in Kano State.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the NLC is embarking on a two-day warning strike to protest against the federal government’s alleged failure to cushion the effects of petrol subsidy removal.
The Kano State NLC Vice Chairman, Ado Riruwai, who led the action, said all government offices in the state were under lock and key.
Riruwa added that banks and the power sector were also not operating and were proceeding to the airport to ensure the grounding of all flights in the state.
