President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Engr (Dr) Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua as acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Audu-Ohwavborua’s appointment is coming on the sacking of Effiong Akwa as Interim Administrator of the NDDC.
his appointment was contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana.

Umana’s letter also confirmed the sacking of Akwa as interim administrator.
According to the letter, President Buhari ordered for the most senior director in the commission to step in and serve on interim basis.
Umana’s letter read;
“President Mohammadu Buhari has approved the disengagement of the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with effect from Thursday, October 20, 2022.
“President Buhari has further approved that the most senior director in the commission should take over and perform the duties of the managing director in acting capacity in line with the provision of the extant Federal Government Circular Ref No. SGF.50/S, II/C.2/268.
“Accordingly, you are by this letter directed to take up and perform the duties of the Managing Director pending the appointment of a substantive managing director and members of the Governing Board of the Commission.”
