The Central Bank of Nigeria has reacted to reports of its governor, Governor Emiefele being sacked.

Reports were rife that the presidential aspirant was relieved of his duties as governor of the apex bank on Wednesday.

However, a reliable source within the CBN, who craved anonymity, has denied the reports.

According to Leadership Nigeria, the source said Emefiele was seated on his desk as of the time the report filled the media space.

Also, popular activist, Deji Adeyanjo poured cold water on the report, describing it as fake news.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Deji said “The news of sacking of Emefiele is fake. President has not sacked him.”

No official statement had been made by the CBN or the Presidency as of the time of filing this report.
