The House Committee Chairman on Environment jumped ship alongside other critical leaders and stakeholders of his ward.
The lawmaker representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Delta State in the Federal House of Representatives, Julius Pondi, has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a meeting held Thursday alongside leaders of Ward 11 caucus in Burutu Local Government Area, Pondi briefed his ward leadership on the decision of the governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all components of the PDP in the state to defect to the APC as he highlighted the importance of the ward to align with the position of the leadership at the state level.
After the briefing and elaborate deliberations, the entire members of the caucus agreed through voice vote to a motion moved by Hon. Bernard Okoh and seconded by Hon. Cedric Amu Itoto to resign from the PDP and immediately to move the entire party structure to the All Progressive’s Congress (APC) along with all organs and willing members of the party at the ward level.

Announcing their defection, Pondi said;
“Today, history is being made. The PDP that we are so used to that runs in our veins…in the affairs of a party man, there is a time to join a party, and there is a time to leave when it is no longer convenient for you to stay.

“We have come to that crossroad. We have decided that moving forward from today, the entire component of PDP Ward 11 is moving to the APC just like it was unanimously adopted at the state level.
“At the state level, the slogan is “wherever Sheriff goes, we go. That is what has been replicated here,” Pondi said while thanking members of the ward for their support and commitment.
The Chairman House Committee on Environment further assured his constituents that the Delta State Government led by Sheriff Oborevwori has so much to offer the people of the state.
“I want to assure you that the Oborevwori government has so much for all of us. What we are doing is only to align ourselves with the aspirations of the Dederal and Delta State Government so that we can continue to benefit from the infrastructural development in this country.
Pondi stressed that their defection to the APC was not intended to cause a rift between old and new members of the party but to unite for the greater good and to make Burutu Local Government Area a better place.
The ward leadership caucus subsequently passed a vote of confidence Pondi following a motion raised by Barr. Samuel Ikporikpo and seconded by Elder Joseph Lamieghan.
The caucus expressed their unflinching support for the House of Representatives member, promising to work closely with him to continue to deliver on the mandate of the people of Burutu Dederal constituency.
