Foremost businessman, Doyin Okupe has resigned his position as running mate to the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Okupe, who is the Director-General, Peter Obi Campaign Organisation, announced his withdrawal via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle @doyinokupe.

He also noted that the party would announce a new running mate to Peter Obi in a short time.

“This afternoon I submitted my withdrawal letter from the position of the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party to INEC. A replacement will be announced by d national chairman of d party shortly. I feel greatly blessed to have been part of the foundation of success 4 the LP,” Okupe tweeted.

DAILY REPORT recalls that Okupe was announced as a placeholder vice presidential candidate to enable the Labour Party beat the deadline set out by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
