Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) surrounded the former governor, while officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) formed a protective shield inside the courtroom.
Access to the proceedings was heavily restricted, with journalists denied entry, as security agencies tightened control around the venue.
Vehicular movement in the area was also affected, forcing motorists to use a single lane from the Ungwan Sarki axis through Kawo due to congestion.
