The Three Lionesses of England on Monday dumped the Super Falcons of Nigeria out of the ongoing Women’s World Cup.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the Round of 16 encounter between Nigeria and England dragged on to penalties after both teams played out a scoreless 120 minutes.

Despite having a drab show and Lauren James sent off late in the second half for stamping on Falcons defender Alozie, the European champions held their nerves to win it on penalties.

The Lionesses progressed to the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Cup after winning 4-2 on penalties.

The Super Falcons on the other hand, will hold to a their show of composure and skill in the face of a much more superior opponent.
