The Federal Government, through the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has commenced the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables, marking one of the largest police recruitment exercises in recent years.
The announcement was made in a statement by Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, who explained that the move is designed to boost manpower, reinforce community policing, and improve security across Nigeria.

According to the PSC, applicants for general duty positions must possess GCE O’Level, SSCE/NECO, or equivalent certificates with at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
For the specialist cadre, candidates require a minimum of four credits, including English and Mathematics, alongside three years of practical experience and verified Trade Test qualifications.
The Commission also emphasized that all applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth. The approved age limits are 18–25 years for general duty applicants and 18–28 years for the specialist category. In addition, every applicant must be physically, medically, and psychologically fit. Height requirements were also listed: 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women for general duty roles.

The PSC confirmed that the official recruitment portal will remain open from Monday, December 15, 2025, to Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Highlighting the importance of this massive intake, the Commission said: “This recruitment drive is critical to strengthening community policing and ensuring the Nigeria Police Force is adequately equipped to meet today’s security demands.”
Applicants are advised to apply early and ensure all required documents and qualifications are complete.
