FG Prunes Charges Against Emefiele

The Federal Government has amended its charges against former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that this is the second time the government has pruned down to charges against the embattled banker.

The newly pruned charges include forgery, conferring of corrupt advantage, and criminal breach of trust among others.

The President Bola Tinubu-led government had initially filed 19 charges Emefiele bordering on procurement fraud.

Meanwhile, a Federal Capital Territory High Court on Wednesday granted a request by the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, to be allowed travel out of Abuja.

Emefiele was initially grounded within Abuja in an earlier ruling as part of his bail conditions.

However, Emefiele, had through his lawyer, Mathew Bukka, requested for a variation of the bail terms.

Though, the court granted Emefiele’s request to travel, it ruled that Emefiele must remain within the country.
