The popular Maciver Market in Warri Delta State has been razed by fire.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the incident occurred within the hours of 1:20 am to 2:00 am on Monday.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, a witness, Tony Demebide, suggested it could have been as a result of combustible items such as “paper, cellophane, and other domestic materials.”
Demebide also lamented the actions of suspected thieves who took advantage of the fire outbreak to cart away products from stores in the guise of rescue.

“I saw for myself young boys/men in the guise of trying to save the situation, carting away with properties and other items. I saw some arguing over ownership and who picked it up first,” he said.
The incident is coming less than a week after the fire outbreak at the neighboring Ogbe-Ijoh market which has been labeled the most devastating occurrence ever recorded in the history of the market.
