Former Delta North Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi is dead, sparking an outpouring of grief across Delta State and beyond. His death, confirmed on Friday, has drawn emotional tributes from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who described the late lawmaker as a fearless defender of the Anioma people and a committed servant of Nigeria.

Reacting to the sad development, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow, describing Nwaoboshi’s passing as a huge loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation, and the country at large.
In a condolence message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the former senator lived a life of courage, loyalty, and dedication to public service.
According to Oborevwori, Nwaoboshi was a proud son of Delta State who consistently stood up for the Anioma cause and played a significant role in national development during his time at the National Assembly.

“Senator Nwaoboshi was a courageous voice for Anioma and a committed patriot whose contributions to nation-building will not be forgotten,” the governor said.
The late lawmaker served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he was widely known for his strong advocacy for development in the Niger Delta region and Delta State in particular.
Governor Oborevwori also recalled Nwaoboshi’s political journey, noting that he served meritoriously as a two-time Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, building a reputation for discipline, resilience, and grassroots leadership.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” Oborevwori added.
“I pray that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family, friends, and associates the strength to bear this painful loss.”
