Four members of the House of Representatives from Rivers State have formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking another major shake-up in the state’s political alignment.
The lawmakers’ defection comes barely one week after Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, announced his decision to join the ruling APC, a move that has continued to trigger political realignments across the state.

Those who crossed over are Manuchim Umezuruike, representing Port Harcourt I Federal Constituency; Boniface Emerengwa of Ikwerre/Emuoha Federal Constituency; Awake-Inombek Abiante, who represents Andoni/Opobo Federal Constituency; and Boma Goodhead of Asari-Toru Federal Constituency.
The latest development underscores a growing shift among key political actors in Rivers State, as several elected officials appear to be aligning with the ruling party following recent changes at the state level.
