BREAKING: Governor Obaseki Approves N70, 000 New Minimum Wage

BREAKING: Governor Obaseki Approves N70, 000 New Minimum Wage | Daily Report Nigeria

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for civil servants in the state, effective May 1, 2024.

The development comes amid ongoing negotiations between the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Federal Government over a new national minimum wage to address rising inflation and food prices.

The NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have jointly proposed a minimum wage of N615,000, while a 37-member panel established by President Bola Tinubu is working to recommend a new national minimum wage.

Furthermore, the current N30,000 minimum wage expired at the end of March 2024.
