Terrorists launched a deadly attack on the Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Kebbi State early Monday, abducting several female students and killing a staff member.

The assault took place at about 5:52 a.m., while students were getting ready for their morning activities. Witnesses said the attackers fired repeatedly as they forced their way into the school compound, throwing the community into panic.

A school guard was also injured during the invasion.

Sources confirmed that the terrorists escaped with an unknown number of schoolgirls, leaving behind traumatised students and staff. Residents told reporters that the attackers “have not gone far” and urged both the Federal and State Governments to launch an urgent rescue operation.

The incident comes barely hours after gunmen attacked Rogun Village in the Kpada District of Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara State, where two security operatives— a police constabulary and a vigilante officer— were killed in a fierce gun battle on Sunday night.

Security officials in both states have yet to release an official statement on the Kebbi school abductions, as search and rescue efforts are expected to intensify in the coming hours.
