BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Dozens of CAC Members in Ondo

More than two dozens of worshippers with the Christ Apostolic Church have been kidnapped in Ondo State.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the abducted CAC members numbering about 25 are worshippers with the Oke Igan branch in Akure, Ondo state capital.

The worshippers were said to be on their way to a burial programme when their assailants attacked them along the notorious Ifon road in the Ose Local Council Area of the state, on Friday evening.

A source from the church who confirmed the incident to newsmen said the victims were mostly choir members.

“At least twenty-five of them were in the bus travelling for the burial programme en route to Ose LGA. They were abducted by the armed men and their bus was abandoned by the roadside,” he said.

The incident was further confirmed by the Ondo Police Command spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya.

Funmilayo said that the the police anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams had been deployed in the area to rescue the victims.

“The incident happened yesterday (Friday) afternoon, the police were informed that a Church Bus with the Inscription CAC was abandoned around the Elegbeka area and there are suspicions that the passengers in the vehicle were kidnapped.

“But we are already on the trail of the kidnappers with the view to rescue the abducted victims. Our men from the Anti-kidnapping squad are combing the bush already,” she said.
