BREAKING: Many Injured as Police Fire Gunshots, Tear Gas at Protesting Students in Delta

Police operatives on Wednesday fired gunshots to disperse aggrieved protesting students in Warri Delta State.

The security agents also fired tear gas at the students, who held a peaceful protest against the non-payment of bursaries by the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Commission, DESOPADEC.

In what was aimed at dispersing the protesters, police officers at the DESOPADEC gate fired gunshots as well as tear gas at the students.

The protesting students, who bore placards with varying inscriptions, chanted solidarity songs as they demonstrated peacefully against the non-payment of bursaries by DESOPADEC.

A female student who was part of the protesters, was left in a critical state following the firing of the harmful gas.

Another male student had his eyes badly injured by the tear gas, while several others sustained bruises as they scampered for safety.
