Comedian Abdulgafar Ahmad, aka Cute Abiola, had been released from detention by the Nigerian Navy.

The release of the skit maker was confirmed on Friday by Naval spokesperson, Commodore Suleman Dahun.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that Cute Abiola was declared missing on Monday, November 15, 2021, when his colleague Debo Adedayo aka Mr. Macaroni, raised an alarm about his whereabouts.

According to Abiola’s wife, the comedian who is also a naval officer went missing after reporting at his office in Navy Town, Lagos, on that day.

However, reports of the comedian missing were quashed by a statement from the Navy, which announced that Abiola was detained for contravening the military laws.

Dahun said Abiola posted a video of himself in military uniform on social media, which is a violation of the armed forces’ social media policy.

The comedian also failed to report to the office when he was called to explain himself.

Dahun stressed that Ahmad knowingly violated the armed forces’ social media policy but was given a light punishment of a “one-month extra duty” when he was tried for misconduct and indiscipline.

He further revealed that Abiola is no longer in naval detention as he has been released to serve his punishment.
