Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was crowned the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, July 12, 2024. The coronation ceremony took place at the Labosinde compound, the family entrusted with the tradition of crowning new Olubadans.
The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including Rashidi Ladoja, a former Oyo State Governor and member of the Olubadan-in-Council; Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife; Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto; and Teslim Folarin, a former Senate Leader.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state approved the coronation and presentation of staff of office to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin. The official presentation of the staff of office to the new Ibadan monarch and other paraphernalia of office by Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to take place at the popular Mapo Hall venue of the coronation.

Olakulehin is expected to receive the staff of office and other instruments of office from the state governor, Seyi Makinde, at the frontage of Mapo Hall. Immediately after the crowning, the new Olubadan moved to Ile Osemeji at Oja, Oba area, regarded as the place where the divination on the future of Ibadan was revealed.
