Omobayo Godwins has assumed the position of Deputy Governor of Edo State after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu.
The impeachment followed an investigation by a panel chaired by Justice S A Omonuwa (retd), which concluded its proceedings on Friday and submitted its report to the State Assembly.
On Monday, the Assembly deliberated on the report and proceeded with the impeachment of Shaibu.
Despite his absence, Shaibu had argued that the case was pending in an Abuja court.
