Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Accord Party, ending weeks of speculation about his political alignment.
Adeleke confirmed his exit in a letter dated November 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, citing ongoing internal crises within the PDP’s national leadership as his reason for leaving.

“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the party with immediate effect,” Adeleke wrote.

He expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing the platform that enabled his rise from Senator representing Osun West to Governor.
Hours after the resignation letter became public, Adeleke officially announced the Accord Party as his new political home during a televised broadcast, confirming widespread speculation about his next political move.
Political analysts note that Adeleke’s defection represents one of the most significant political shifts in Osun State since he assumed office, signaling possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Neither the PDP nor the Accord Party had issued an official response at the time of reporting.
