The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has suspended Senator Dino Melaye over allegations of anti-party activities.
The suspension was confirmed by a memo from the party’s Ayetoro Gbede Ward 1 executive committee, dated September 12, 2024.
According to the party, Melaye was invited to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on August 20, 2024, to answer to certain allegations of misconduct and anti-party activities. However, he failed to show up, disregarding the invitation and the authority of the party.
“After careful consideration and deliberation, the Ward Party Exco resolved as follows: That Senator Dino Melaye’s failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee is a serious breach of party discipline and disrespect towards the party’s leadership,” the party said.

The party also alleged that Melaye’s conduct was detrimental to the party’s reputation and thus, his continued membership was unsustainable.

Meanwhile, the Ward Party Exco has imposed an immediate suspension on Melaye, citing Article 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which grants the executive committee the authority to enforce disciplinary measures.
“The party has urged its members to uphold the principles of party discipline and unity, aiming to strengthen the party’s collective effort towards electoral success and effective service delivery,” the party added.
