The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB) has directed the immediate closure of all junior and senior schools across the state due to rising insecurity.
The decision, confirmed by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Rechard John Samanja, was described as a precaution aimed at preventing any potential security threats to students.

This move comes amid fresh concerns following recent school attacks and mass abductions reported in Kebbi and Niger States.
According to the official statement, Government Junior Model Secondary Schools (GJMSS) are to close effective Saturday, November 22, 2025, while primary and day schools will shut down from Monday, November 24, 2025.

PSUBEB emphasized that although the shutdown is temporary, it remains a necessary step to reassure parents and safeguard learners across the state.
The board urged local government education authorities, school administrators, and community leaders to fully comply with the directive and remain alert during the period.
It added that the government remains committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of schoolchildren amid growing security concerns nationwide.
