Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, the representative for Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement was made during a plenary session on October 30, 2024, by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who read a letter from Gumi detailing his reasons for the move.

In his letter, Gumi expressed frustration with the ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP, stating, “It is noteworthy to state here that the PDP has two chairmen in my constituency.

One was unconstitutionally removed while the other decamped with me, hence the party lacks structure in my constituency.”

He emphasized that these issues have hindered his ability to effectively represent his constituents and deliver essential services.

Following the reading of the letter, Speaker Abbas welcomed Gumi into the APC, acknowledging the shifting political landscape in Zamfara State.
