Students under the umbrella of the National Association of University Students (NAUS) have blocked the ever-busy Ibadan-Akure-Abuja highway.
The students are protesting the ongoing strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the blockade led to a heavy gridlock as many heavy duty trucks and passengers vehicles going to and fro Abuja, Lagos or Benin were left stranded.

The jam also forced motorists travelling to nearby communities to take alternative untarred routes.
According to Esedere Abraham, a ormer Student Union President of Federal University of Technology, Akure, the protest will continue until ASUU calls off the strike action.
Esedere stated that students should not be made to suffer for any problem between ASUU and the Federal Government.
Vice Chairman of NAUS, Ondo State chapter, Shittu Folarin, said the students want to ensure this would be the last action by ASUU.
