Defending champions, Chelsea suffered a shock 3-1 defeat at home to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Karim Benzema unarguably earned the man of the match performance with a hat-trick, including two sublime headers in the first half.
Chelsea’s Kai Havertz scored a header late in the first half to give some hope to the embattled Blues.
However, Benzema needed just a minutes after the restart to take the game away from Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Chelsea thus have a big mountain to climb in Madrid for the return leg next week Tuesday.
Meanwhile, German champions, Bayern Munich succumbed to a 7th minute goal from Arnaut Danjuma away at Villareal.
