Morocco on Sunday defeated Belgium 2-0 at the ongoing World Cup in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions held their nerves to see out the Red Devils with two goals in the second half to secure maximum points.

Substitute Sabiri gave the African representatives the lead through a free kick from the edge of the field on 73 minute before fellow substitute, Aboukhlal made it 2-0 on 92nd minute to take the game away from Belgium.

The win sees Morocco go top of Group F following an opening game scoreless draw with Croatia.

Belgium looked a shadow of themselves throughout the encounter, only managing to get a single shot on target.

Morocco had a goal by Hakim Ziyech disallowed late into the first half for offside.

Meanwhile, Croatia takes on Canada in the last game of the group for the second round of matches.
