Abdul Ningi, the Bauchi Central Senator, voluntarily stepped down from his position as the chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.

Ningi made the decision after the Nigerian Senate suspended him on Tuesday due to allegations of budget padding.

In his resignation letter, Ningi explained that he based his decision on the unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the entire nation.

He said in the letter addressed to the forum secretary:

“I believe this forum is very important and fundamental to the progress of northern Nigeria.”
