Sanwo-Olu coasts to victory

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has won 18 out of the 20 local government areas in the state for Saturday’s governorship election.

Sanwo-Olu, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, emerged winner of the council areas according to results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission at its state collation centre in Yaba, Lagos.

The incumbent governor is contesting against the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olajide Oladiran, and the candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.

Sanwo-Olu polled the highest number of votes in Lagos Island, Epe, Agege, Ibeju-lekki, Surulere, Ikeja, Mushin, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Apapa, Ifako-Ijaiye, Badagry and Lagos Mainland.

Other LGAs where Sanwo-Olu won were Alimosho, Ojo, Ikorodu, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, and Amuwo-Odofin.

However, his opponent, Rhodes-Vivour, defeated the ruling party in Amuwo-Odofin.
