Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, has stepped down.

Tambuwal stepped down at the national convention of the opposition party to throw his weight behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

He made the announcement following the conclusion of a crucial meeting between northern presidential candidates of the PDP.
