Following a new directive, the 2026 WAEC and NECO exams would be computer based.

This comes after the federal government of Nigeria, through the Minister of education issued the order.
The 2026 West African Examinations Council and the National Examinations Council exams are set to be mainly computer based.
According to a statement released by the Minister of education, Dr Tunji Alausa, the Federal government of Nigeria directed that both WAEC and NECO would start administering their exams via CBT, a move which is effective this November.

Speaking during the monitoring of the ongoing exams, alongside JAMB officials today, he said
If JAMB can successfully conduct CBT exams for more than 2.2 million candidates, WAEC and NECO can do the same.
“We are going to get WAEC and NECO to also start their objective exam on CBT.
By 2026 exams which will come up in May/June, both the objectives and the essay will be fully on CBT. That is how we can eliminate exam malpractices.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that more than 2 million candidates registered for the ongoing examination in more than 800 centres across the country.

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja found him guilty after a trial that included 17 prosecution witnesses and 25 exhibits.
